Where the data comes from
All of it is airport-corporation APIs on Korea's Public Data Portal (data.go.kr). We do not count anything at the airport ourselves. Our server fetches each feed on the schedule below and stores it; pages show the latest reading.

If a corporation's API stops or lags, our pages lag with it. If its data is wrong, ours is wrong in the same way.
How "usual" is calculated
Labels such as "busier than usual" compare the current reading with the same place at the same hour on earlier days. Weekdays and weekends are not separated yet: doing so would double the days needed before any comparison is possible.
- Incheon parking — for each lot, the occupancy at that hour (the highest reading within the hour) on each earlier day, averaged. Shown only with 5+ days of record, and only called busier or quieter when the current value is at least 0.8 standard deviations and 5 percentage points away from that average.
- Incheon departure halls — for each terminal, the average wait at that hour on each earlier day. Same rule: 5+ days, 0.8 standard deviations, and at least 2 minutes of difference.
- Other airports' parking — the median number of free spaces at that hour over the last 28 days, so one odd day cannot move the baseline. Shown with 3+ days of record, and called tighter or roomier only when the gap is at least 20 spaces and more than 30%.
With too little record we show no comparison at all. Departure and regional parking comparisons also say how many days they are based on.
Things to know when reading
- Received values and calculated values are kept apart. Free spaces, queue counts and flight status are the corporations' figures. Anything we calculate or estimate — "usual" comparisons, expected times a lot fills, travel times — carries its basis or the word "estimate".
- Lot counters are sometimes wrong. When a lot of 1,000+ spaces reports 97% or more empty, reports 93% or more empty twice running, or jumps by more than 20% of its capacity in an hour, we treat it as a counting error: it shows "Counter check" instead of a number and is left out of totals. A parked-car count above capacity, which happens just before a lot fills, is capped at capacity.
- The record is still short. Our current server holds Incheon from 2026-09-12 and other airports and the Terminal 2 departure halls from 2026-09-18. Holiday comparisons can only cover holidays we have recorded.
- Not a substitute for official notices. For reservations, fees and flight changes, Incheon Airport (airport.kr) and Korea Airports Corporation (airport.co.kr) come first.
Corrections
When we have published a wrong number, it is recorded here. Entries are added on top and never removed.
2026-09-28 · Incheon parking
Incheon free spaces and occupancy were shown upside down
- Period
- From 2026-06-12 (first collection, on the previous server) until the fix went live at 09:28 KST on 2026-09-28. The current server's record starts after the move, which is why the "record since" date above is later.
- What was wrong
- For all 19 Incheon lots, free spaces, occupancy, the full/busy labels and the hourly record were inverted. At 09:13 on 28 September, for example, T1 long-term P1 had 591 free spaces; we showed 2,177. Parking towers that were in fact full were often labelled "Counter check".
- Cause
- In the Incheon parking API (dataset 15095047) the
parkingfield is cars currently parked. Our collector stored it as free spaces. Free spaces are capacity minus that value. - Fix
- The collector was fixed at 09:28 on 28 September. At 10:20 the same day we corrected the Incheon record held on our current server (from 2026-09-12): 7,220 readings, 7,030 hourly aggregates and 16 daily summaries. The whole database was backed up first. The cause was confirmed against the same-time figures on Incheon Airport's official parking page (airport.kr).
- Not affected
- Parking at Gimpo, Gimhae, Jeju and other Korea Airports Corporation airports comes from a different API and was read correctly all along (checked against Gimpo's official board the same day). Departure queues and flights were not involved.
- Prevention
- The meaning of each API field is now written down in one file that every piece of code goes through, and an automatic check before each deploy tests that meaning against a sample response.
Who runs it
NaruGate is one of the everyday-information sites run by naruday. Some pages carry Coupang Partners ads, and those pages say so near the top. We are not affiliated with or speaking for either airport corporation.
If a number looks wrong, tell us which page, which number, and what time you saw it. We will check it against the corporation's raw data, and if we were wrong we will fix it and record it above.
